HISTORY

1827

Established

Thirty-three members of Bethesda Baptist Church withdrew from its membership, met in the home of Cornelius Sanders, and constituted an independent body which they called “Fellowship”.

1856

The stone building

In July, the stone building was completed. Until this time, the members met in a log structure composed of cedar timber. The stone building is still standing and is currently where the Fellowship Youth meet.

1927

Centennial Celebration

In December, Fellowship marked a century of its establishment as a church.

1940

Gathering More

It was not until 1940 that members of Fellowship would meet twice per month. Before this, they met once per month. They did not begin meeting every Sunday until 1971.

1979

Two Fires

Two attempts to burn down the church were made in March of this year. The building remained intact. Today, you can still see burn marks in some sections of the hardwood flooring and on the interior of a stone wall.

1994

New Addition Completed

Construction was completed to add 7,500 sq ft to the building. This included a new sanctuary with a baptistry and church offices.

NOW

Stewardship & Growth

The church continues to care for and update the building that was built in 1856 and 1994. A renovation project was just completed to update each section of the building. The church continues to grow in faith and numbers.
